Now that I'm looking through it, I totally see why you're questioning the timeline. Ryan's got bigger things to worry about than timelines, which accounts for some of the skew, and the fact Amy's obviously more pregnant than what fits was sort of a clue.
What stands goes as such: last week of September (Fall Quarter at NU begins), mid-to-late October (Theta Chi party, rape occurs, Amy Phelan makes initial report but declines to press charges), early March (formal charges brought against Ryan), April (investigation, pre-trial hearings, etc), early May (actual trial begins), mid-to-late May (Andy from Theta Chi's testimony), late May (Amy's roommate's testimony), early-to-mid June (the conversation here), mid-June (Amy gives birth), early July (acquittal).
There would have been substantial press coverage of the case starting in early March, since Ryan's father is a prominent Chicago attorney, and I can imagine the usual "You really think this is our kind of case" conversation as one brother notices the weird case and brings it up, and the other is doubtful. I imagine, since Sam's on the jury (for whatever dubious reason, insert your own, especially how he made it through jury selection), they arrived in Chicago in late March, and that Dean goes off and does minor hunts on his own or something while Sam's sitting duty every day. Now I'm overthinking it, but let's just say they found other not-court-admissable, demonic evidence that this was a fairly important demon that made seeing the case through important.
*shrugs*
And wow, I guess this turned into a bit of a meta on its own. Yikes. Thank you for reading!
